This is my rendition of a partially-flooded subterranean prison which is one of the levels in our game called War of the Burning Sky - Online. As you may have noticed, the style I used for this painting is not the one usually seen in my works. That's the thing with game dev. Sometimes you have to keep your work consistent with others exhibiting a different style. I still kind of like how this one turned out.

This is so beautiful. I hope to digital paint like that someday! I'm a beginner in digital painting but how do you get that realistic? I don't know where to start...Could you give me some tips? I am in the Game Art program at school and I really want to be an environment artist for games but I don't know where to begin.
Hi there! Sorry for the late response. Been busy lately. With regards to painting backgrounds like these, it really helps to study fundamentals. The areas you'd want to focus on include perspective, atmospheric perspective and most importantly, composition. It could take a while to learn these things. I've been doing this for a while and I still have a lot to learn. But the rewards are great! Also, try looking at the work of Feng Zhu. He has a lot of good advices. [link]
I have seen Feng Zhu it is SOOOO amazing. Just beautiful the creations from digital painting. Did you take a class for digital painting or just get a tablet and learn on your own. Right now i'm learning on my own but I think it might help for me to draw interior/exterior spaces from life. Then start creating from my imagination.
great light effects - wow
